Ibadan Poly Hosts NBTE for Accreditation of 10 Newly Introduced Courses

In a bid to widen the level of skill acquisition and technical education in Nigeria, the management of The Polytechnic, Ibadan on Wednesday received an accreditation team from the National Board of Technical Education (NBTE) for the resource accreditation of ten courses introduced by the institution.

The team was officially received by the management led by the Rector, Kazeem Adebiyi; Registrar, Mrs Theresa Fawole; Deans of faculties, Head of Departments and others at an opening ceremony held at the CIBN hall.

The accreditation team included the Director of Polytechnic Programme, NBTE Kaduna, Arch. Ngbede Ogor; representative of NBTE Zonal Director, Dr John Onyebuchi and other resource persons from different institutions, NBTE and professional bodies.

Some of the new courses include Material and Metallurgy Engineering, Mineral and Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Resources Engineering, Polymar, Food Technology, Pharmaceutical Technology, Taxation, Tourism, Photography and others.

The Institution Rector, Professor Kazeem Adebiyi in his welcome remark, maintained that the institution is keen on ensuring it goes in line with with the technology trend.

“We realise that there is need for us to move with the trend of development in the technical education and skill acquisition and that is why we are expanding with the fresh courses.

“We have made adequate preparation for the programme and I believe by the time you are done you will appreciate and give good recommendations about all our new programmes for proper accreditation,” he stated.

Meanwhile, leader of the team, Arch. Ngbede Ogor in his brief remark stated that the institution has stood the test of time, having been established about 53 years ago.

He commended the Adebiyi-led administration for desiring the growth and expansion of the institution and urged the academic staff to make themselves available and corporate with the accreditation team in their respective departments.
