Ibadan Tech Expo: Fed Rep Member,‘Odidiomo’ Seeks Synergy To Drive Tech Innovation In Oyo State

Member representing Ibadan NorthWest/SouthWest in the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide, well known as Odidi-Omo has reiterated the need for collaboration among stakeholders to drive technological innovation in Oyo State.

The lawmaker made this call while speaking at the Ibadan Tech Expo 2024, held at the International Conference Center, University of Ibadan, on Saturday.

According to the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Digital, Information Communication Technology and Cybersecurity, effective laws and policies provide the framework for innovation, entrepreneurship and economic growth.

He identified key areas requiring legislative attention, including ICT infrastructure development, cybersecurity, digital literacy and innovation hubs.

Olajide further stressed the importance of embracing artificial intelligence, blockchain technology and internet governance to drive economic growth, highlighted the need for cybersecurity measures to safeguard digital transactions and protect citizens’ data.

The lawmaker who further noted that digital literacy programmes would enhance skills and expertise, making Nigeria competitive in the global digital economy also emphasized the role of innovation hubs in fostering entrepreneurship and job creation.

While disclosing further plans to engage stakeholders, conduct public hearings and collaborate with international organizations to leverage best practices, Hon. Olajide also emphasized the need for joint research and development, capacity building and funding to support ICT initiatives among private sector stakeholders, government agencies and academia to drive innovation.
