Ibarapa North Local Government Chairman, Hon Lawal Lateef Akorede held a crucial security meeting with traditional rulers of the three towns in the LGA; Igangan, Ayete and Tapa, local hunters and youths yesterday to discuss how to tackle the bandit/killer herdsmen menace.
The meeting was held to discuss how to prevent the recent bandit attack on Igangan that left 11 people dead and several properties destroyed including the palace of the Asigangan.
The LGA Chairman discussed the current security plans and urged the people to add their input and effort to make the plans successful.
He reiterated Governor Seyi Makinde’s promise to support local hunters and vigilantes with the necessary support they need to properly combat the menace of the killer herdsmen and urged the people of Ibarapa to properly welcome the soldiers that were posted to the area as they were there to help them ward off future attacks.
He also added that Ibarapa LGA would employ 300 people to join the vigilante groups and told interested youths to apply.
