INEC Receives Election Materials for Saki West Re-run

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Oyo State has taken delivery of both sensitive and non-sensitive materials intended for the upcoming Saki West state constituency re-run election, scheduled for Saturday.

The materials arrived at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in Dugbe, Ibadan, under tight security and in the presence of representatives from major political parties, INEC administrative secretary Mr. Agboola Razaq, and other stakeholders.

Following the delivery, Dr. Adeniran Tella, the resident electoral commissioner in Oyo state, disclosed that the commission received six cartons of materials, including ballot papers, result sheets, and replacement forms. Additionally, Dr. Tella mentioned that the commission will utilize two Biometric Voter Authentication Systems (BVAS) with two backups for the election. He also revealed that the Oyo state Commissioner of Police, Hamzat Adebola, has pledged to deploy 182 police officers to ensure security during the process.

In response to the delivery, representatives from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Tajudeen Olanite and Mr. Abiodun Popoola, respectively, expressed satisfaction with the handling of the materials.

The re-run election in Saki West constituency was ordered by the Appeal court following the judgment of the Election petition.
