There are indications that the Presidency, after careful consideration and assessment of Barrister Ahmed Raji SAN, a legal luminary from Iseyin, might be selected as a minister-nominee from Oyo State. Previously, four names were being considered for the ministerial appointment, including Raji Ahmed SAN, Florence Ajimobi, Sen. Teslim Folarin, and Joseph Tegbe.
According to a reliable source, several factors have led to the potential selection of Barrister Ahmed Raji for the ministerial appointment. It is believed that his close ties with Asiwaju and the influence of the Governor of Oyo State, who worked against the interest of the PDP in the last presidential election, have played a role in his favor.
Ahmed Raji has a strong relationship with President Tinubu and has been part of his legal team in defending his case at the ongoing Presidential Election Tribunal. He has also been at the forefront in defending Chief Justice of Nigeria, CIN Olukayode Ariwoola, who hails from the same town as the Senior Advocate.
In addition, it has been reported that Nyesom Wike, who was instrumental in the G5 group’s efforts, has been selected as the ministerial-nominee for Rivers State. The G5 group, which includes Makinde and Wike, has been meeting with President Tinubu at the Villa since the presidential election to discuss arrangements for ministerial-nominees in their respective states.
If the reports are accurate and Ahmed Raji is confirmed, he may be appointed as the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice. However, there are also reports that some top politicians in the Oyo State chapter of APC are working against his selection.
