Lagelu FM’s Temitayo Oyeladun Faces Death Threats After Controversial Interview About Soun

Temitayo Oyeladun, a.k.a. Abooro, a broadcast journalist with Lagelu FM, has disclosed severe death threats against him following a January 25, 2025 interview he anchored tagged ‘Bosenlo’, featuring guests Dr. Doyin Adebowale and Dr. Festus Adedayo.

The conversation involved discussing the hierarchical status of the Soun of Ogbomoso, suggesting that he is not a supreme Oba but rather one of the chiefs under the Alaafin of Oyo.

In a post on Temitayo Oyeladun’s personal Facebook page, he expressed his distress over the situation, “The past few days have been hard for me and my family! I’m facing death threats for doing my job as a broadcast journalist. I believe in balanced opinion and free speech in a democratic setting. I’m living in a society where the system favors the elite and those in positions of authority.”

Oyeladun, who also added that he has been labeled a “soft target in elite chess games,” detailed how he has been subject to both subtle and open attempts at blackmail, sabotage, and direct threats not just against himself but also his family. He questioned the implications of such actions, “If I lose my job or life, will they take care of my children and family? My offense? Being a child of nobody.”

Oyeladun’s post ends with a plea for prayers for his safety and a promise to speak out further at an appropriate time, “Friends and family, please keep praying for my safety. You will hear from me at the right time.”

In a related development, the State Intelligence Bureau of the Nigeria Police at Eleyele, Ibadan, has launched an investigation into the interview, summoning the programme’s anchor and guests over allegations it constitutes “conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace.”
