LAUTECH: NANS Commends Makinde Over 25% Tuition Reduction

The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, Southwest zone, has commended the governor of Oyo state, ‘Seyi Makinde over the 25 per cent tuition reduction at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso.

The commendation is contained in a statement issued in Ibadan on Wednesday, by the NANS Southwest Coordinator, Mr. Olatunji Adegboye.

The association, which described the tuition reduction as a sign of commitment towards making education accessible and affordable, said it would enhance LAUTECH’s status.

Speaking positively about the impact of the reduction, the students’ body noted that the tuition reduction is a welcome development, not only to LAUTECH students but to the entire students in the Southwest.

“The news about LAUTECH tuition reduction came at a time when the global economy is facing the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We acknowledge this decision of the government of Oyo state as a remarkable sign of commitment towards making education affordable to the masses in the state, despite the economic challenges”.

Olatunji further stated that the Southwest zone is known to be the source of formal education in the country and the heritage must be sustained.

The association therefore implore other state governments in the Southwest zone, to follow the footsteps of Oyo state government, and come up with policies and actions that would enhance affordable quality education for the masses.
