LAUTECH Retains Best State University in Nigeria

Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso has once again secured its position as the leading state university in Nigeria for the second consecutive year, according to the latest publication by the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings in January 2024.

Oyo State commissioner for information and civic orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, revealed that the publication also recognized Covenant University, Otta and the University of Ibadan as the other top universities in Nigeria.

Oyelade highlighted that LAUTECH’s fortunes changed drastically after Governor Seyi Makinde took office, following a period of decline and political interference spanning 11 years. The governor’s successful negotiation of an N8 billion severance agreement with Osun State allowed Oyo State to become the sole owner of the institution, paving the way for further development, including the establishment of the Faculty of Agriculture and Renewal Science in Iseyin last year.
