LAUTECH Students Pen Appreciation Message to Makinde, Say Institution Fortunate Under His Governance

The students of Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomoso have tendered their words of appreciation to the Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde on his remarkable feats towards the development of the institution.

The students in a statement signed by the Public Relation Officer and General Secretary of their Student’ Union, described Makinde’s style of governance as a compassionate and excellent one which have turned the institution around in the last 4 years.

The students in their message wrote:

“On behalf of the entire students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, we wish to express our gratitude and thank you for your peerless service and dedication to our University and her community since the inception of your administration in 2019. Your term of leadership has been marked by compassion, fairness, excellence and tremendous support for the students of LAUTECH and her host community, Ogbomoso.

“In this past week, the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), increased admission quota for MBBS programme for the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, to one hundred and twenty (120), from seventy-five (75). This was made possible by the special taskforce instituted by your excellency, to study the situation in LAUTECH and its Teaching Hospital, and come up with suggestions on how to raise the standard of training medical doctors and make it one of the best medical schools in the country.

“We say thank you for your visionary leadership.

“For the record purpose, you promised to give the full support to LAUTECH and make it shine again. Your Excellency Sir, that has been accomplished as LAUTECH is now rated as the best State University in Nigeria for three consecutive years.

“Without stopping, the idea of NO TUITIONS, NO EXAM which has always caused many students to carry courses or have an extra year, upon your intervention when we cried out to you as our father, was stopped and many students were able to write and complete their examinations.

“For the past four years, the students and staff of LAUTECH have been fortunate enough to have your support with many tremendous and mouthwatering achievements recorded in the university such as implementation of the massive 25% reduction in tuition fee in 2022, sole ownership of the university in 2020, timely and increased subventions to the university, Light-Up Project done across the University’s environment, completion of the 3KM Under G Road among others.

“As much as we appreciate your service to our great citadel of learning and students populace and Ogbomoso, we are happy knowing you will continue to serve the state with the greatest of distinction as the governor.

“Congratulations to you on the success ahead of your second tenure ambition and with our warmest wishes for the future,” the statement added.
