Makinde appoints Olanike Kudirat Adeyemo as SSG

Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, has announced Mrs Olanike Kudirat Adeyemo, a Professor at the University of Ibadan, as the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) designate. The governor’s announcement was made in a letter signed by him.

Professor Adeyemo, who previously led the Oyo State COVID-19 Decontamination and Containment team, was born on July 17, 1970. She holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.), Master’s degree in Veterinary Public Health (MVPH), and Ph.D. in Veterinary Public Health from the University of Ibadan.

Throughout her career, Professor Adeyemo has held various positions at the University of Ibadan, including Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research, Innovation and Strategic Partnerships) from 2017 to 2021. She has also been recognized as a COMSTECH Distinguished scholar.

In addition to her academic achievements, Professor Adeyemo is a Fellow of several prestigious academies and a member of numerous learned societies. Her research focuses on “One Health” trans-disciplinary studies that address the interconnectedness of the environment, livestock, wildlife, and human health.

She is currently leading a project aimed at improving biosecurity and health management in Nigerian aquatic animal production. This project is funded by a USAID grant under the Fish Innovation Lab for Fish.
