Makinde Reveals Plans to Transform Educational System, announces N700 million Grant for LAUTECH Iseyin Campus

Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde has revealed plans to transform Oyo state into Nigeria’s first point of learning destination, in order to bring about educational advancement.

The governor stated this at the foundation laying ceremony of the Administrative Building of the College of Agriculture and Renewable Natural Resources, LAUTECH Iseyin Campus, Okeho Road, Old College of Education Site, Iseyin; which witnessed the presence of Oyo State Chief Judge, Muktar Abimbola; the Chairman, House Committee on Education; the Chairman, House Committee on Agriculture, Commissioners, lawmakers and many others.

While addressing the cabinet members, local government chairmen, traditional fathers, religious leaders and other stakeholders present at the event, Governor Makinde announced the approval of N500m grant, which has been set aside to ensure the smooth take-off of the campus, adding that the expenditure needed for the campus building, has been captured in the proposed 2022 budget, yet to be approved by the State House of Assembly.

Meanwhile, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Prof. Ayodeji Omole had pointed out the problems confronting the institution, before it was finally handed over to Oyo state government, by the National Universities Commission.

Appreciating Governor Makinde’s efforts, a philantropist and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Ahmed Raji requested for the upgrade of the campus’ infrastructural facilities, in order to aid the students easy movement as well as boost economic activities.
