In a collaborative effort to enhance transportation and boost the economy, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has announced an agreement with Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos and Dapo Abiodun of Ogun to light up the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The governor made this revelation during a visit from the new Minister of Works, David Umahi.

Governor Makinde expressed his appreciation for the support and projects carried out by the Federal Ministry of Works in Oyo State. He highlighted various road projects completed and ongoing in the state, including the reconstruction of the 34.85 km Oyo-Iseyin Road, which will be commissioned on September 15, 2023. Additionally, he mentioned the construction of the 76.67 km Ogbomoso-Iseyin-Fapote Road and the reconstruction of the 35.53 km Ibadan-Iwo-Osogbo Road. Governor Makinde also mentioned several ongoing federal road projects in the state.

One major project that Governor Makinde highlighted was the agreement between himself, Governor Sanwo-Olu, and Governor Abiodun to illuminate the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. Recognizing that this corridor is the busiest in the region, Governor Makinde emphasized the importance of providing adequate lighting to ensure safe travel at any time of day or night. The governors plan to meet soon to initiate this project and promote economic growth within the area.
