Man sets Self, Ex-lover, Two Children on fire in Ibadan



An overly envious man; Ahmed Saka has allegedly set aflame the room of his former lover, Mutiat Oladele on the basis of her seeking divorce.

According to reports, Saka carried out this inhumane at midnight, Wednesday at Shogoye, Idi-Arere area of Ibadan, Oyo State.

Mutiat and her two children were reported to have died from complications arising from burns and heat generated in the fire.

Reports from neighbors stated that Mutiat and Saka, had been lovers before the woman broke up the relationship.

Saka had initially threatened to end his life and Mutiat’s for leaving him and eventually carried out what he had been threatening her with.

Three other children in the same house also sustained varying degrees of injury as a result of the fire.

The children were taken to Anglican Diocese Hospital, Molete, Ibadan while Saka later died in the aftermath of the arson.

Confirming the incident to newsmen, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Olugbenga Fadeyi said:

“They are concubines; the man went to set the house of his ex-lover ablaze because the woman said she was no longer interested in the relationship.

“The woman and her two children died as a result of the incident.

“The man that set the house ablaze died later while three other children sustained injury and are being treated at the hospital. Further investigation is going on the matter”.
