Officers Who Assaulted Ibadan North LG Chairman Will Be Punished – Immigration CG

The leadership of the Nigerian Immigration Commission has condemned the recent assault on the Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government Area, Hon Shuaib Oladayo adding that officers found culpable of the unprofessional act will be appropriately sanctioned according to the commission’s laid down rules.

This was revealed in a press release signed by ACI Amos Okpu, the Immigration Service Public Relations Officer, on Thursday.

The statement was in response to reports that some members of the commission at the Oyo State Command office and officials from the Ibadan North Local Government Area had a dispute on Wednesday leading to assault of the Local Government Chairman and shots being fired.

According to the Comptroller General of Immigration (CGI), Muhammed Babandede, “the Service at Ibadan North Local Government Council has continued to enjoy excellent neighbourliness over the decades thereby making this altercation most unfortunate.”

Babandede stressed that he holds the Chairman of the Council and his management team in high regard and has therefore launched an investigation into the tragic occurrence.

Babandede consequently utilized the medium to ask for calm, underlining that due diligence will be exercised not just to guarantee a peaceful conclusion of the situation, but that anyone found to have acted unprofessionally would be appropriately sanctioned.
