Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan (3SC) thrashed FC Technobat of Jalingo in an 8 goal thriller at the Bako Kontagora Stadium, Minna in an AITEO Cup first-round clash that saw the Oluyole Boys prolific striker; Gafar Olafimihan net four goals.
The trio of Opeoluwa Olufemi, Najeem Olukokun, and Gafar Olafimihan took charge upfront while Isiaka Mutiu, Raheem Quadry, and Akilu Muhammed secured the midfield. Laide Okanlawon was in goal, with the quartet of Abbey Benson, Elum Henry, Ferinyaro Lanre, and Amodu Nurudeen protecting him.
The Oluyole Warriors kicked off their scoring spree in the 10th minute when Olafimihan intercepted a pass from Technobat left-back Amodu Nurudeen and slotted the ball in.
After being put through by Elum Henry’s slide-rule pass, the Stars extended their lead in the 28th minute when Opeoluwa Olufemi placed the ball beyond the reach of the Technobat goalkeeper.
In the 35th minute, central defender Abbey Benson added a third goal, and Olukokun Najeem converted a penalty after Olafimihan was knocked down in the area in the 45th minute to make it 4-0 at halftime.
At the start of the second half, coach Agoye substituted Malomo Ayodeji and Salawudeen Ibrahim for Opeoluwa Olufemi and Raheem Qadri.
Star striker Gafar Olafimihan struck again in the 56th minute and then twice more in the 62d and 64th minute to take his tally to four goals before he was substituted for Osaghae Junior to a standing ovation for his man of the match display.
Nafiu Raheem, another substitute, scored in the 83rd minute to make it 8-0. 7 minutes later, the referee blew the whistle to the relief of the shell-shocked Technobat players who had found themselves unable to cope with the invention and skill of the Oluyole boys all game.
Shooting Stars will now meet Gombe United in the next round of the competition, which will take place in Lokoja.
