Your Excellency, l am deeply saddened by the bad news coming from Lokoja, especially the “masked security men attack on Gov Seyi Makinde of Oyo State in Lokoja” as reported above. An injury to the person of the governor of a State is in fact an injury to everyone of that State because he carries their mandate.
The attack on Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State in Lokoja should provoke the personal interest of Gov Yahaya Bello, in spite his very tight schedule at the moment. Either true or false, GYB should go to see the Governor to find out the true situation. If not true, for whatever it is worth, welcome His Excellency to Kogi State.
However, if it turns out to be true, GYB should tender his unreserved apologies, not just to the Governor himself but to the good people of Oyo State, whose mandate the Governor bears for the obvious discomfort and disrespect he suffered in his (GYB’s) domain and assure the Governor that no further institutional disrespect shall to come his way as long as he remains in his territory.
It is important to emphasize this. It is not impossible for Governor Yahaya Bello to find himself in Oyo State, figuratively speaking tomorrow. It will sadden every responsible and decent Kogite if GYB is so disdainfully treated.
Let the GYB go and assure Governor Seyi Makinde, the indomitable Governor of Oyo State, that Kogites are very warm and friendly to visitors. That this incident is rare and exceptional case. There are many Kogites in Oyo State.
