Three Robbers Nabbed After Murdering Family Of Six In Oyo

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested two siblings and another suspect over the alleged murder and robbery of a family at Oloba Village in Lagelu Local Government Area of Ibadan.

The suspects, identified as siblings Akinbami Ahmed and Akinbami Ojo, alongside Padonu Edward, all residents of Oloba Village, were arrested following intelligence received by the Command on October 2, 2026, over the September 22 attack on the family.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, in a statement on Tuesday, October 6, said that the suspects allegedly stormed the residence of Ifeanyichukwu, his wife and their four children at about 7:00pm, armed with a locally-made Dane gun, two cutlasses and a club.

According to preliminary investigation, the attackers allegedly made away with ₦200,000 cash, a Boxer motorcycle, a Doma machine with chainsaw and a spraying machine.

The Command said Ahmed allegedly shot the husband during the attack, while his sibling, Ojo, and Edward allegedly attacked the wife, hitting her on the head with a club. She was reported to have died instantly.

The attack allegedly ended in tragedy after two of the children were strangled to death while the two remaining ones were tied by their hands and legs and thrown into a nearby river.

The police further alleged that other members of the family that were killed were also dumped in the river.

Following the arrest of the suspects, detectives visited the scene and recovered the family’s Boxer motorcycle, a locally made Dane gun, two cutlasses and the club allegedly used during the attack.

The three suspects, according to the police, confessed during interrogation to their involvement in the crime.

The PPRO said that the remains of the wife had since been recovered, while police divers and other operatives are continuing efforts to recover the remains of the four other victims allegedly dumped in the river.

He stated further that the suspects and their case file had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Iyaganku, for further investigation and prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, has ordered a thorough investigation and directed that everyone found culpable be brought to justice.
