Dr Ghaniyu Bamidele Ajadi, a medical practitioner has been declared the winner of the gubernatorial primary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo State, ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Ajadi emerged the winner at a primary election held on Saturday at Premier Hotel, Ibadan, Oyo State.
The primary election was organised and conducted by a five-man committee headed by Mallam Ibrahim Manzo, with Alhaji Yinka Olona as the Secretary.
Other members of the Committee included Barr. Bimpe Adelowo as Programme Coordinator, Alhaja Mulikat Akintola and Hon. Sola Oluokun as members
The election was monitored by the representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies.
Dr Bamidele was elected unopposed after which he was declared winner by the committee.
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Bamidele Ganiyu Ajadi thanked members of the party for believing in him, and particularly all the delegates for electing him as the party flag bearer in the 2023 governorship election.
He assured every member that he is in the race to contest not otherwise, in the interest of the people of Oyo State.
He said that his focus would be poverty eradication through agriculture development, whereby great numbers of jobs will be created for many of the unemployed youth.
He also listed provision of adequate security and relevant quality education that will make the young persons self- sufficient.
Earlier, while addressing the delegates, the State Chairman of the party, Hon. Adeoti Babatunde Aderoju, emphasised on the need for the party to be a formidable and dependable alternative, that can give Oyo State a new lease of life.
He encouraged the delegates to perform their functions creditably, responsively and responsibly.
Similarly, the Chairman Primary Election Committee, Mallam Ibrahim Manzo reiterated what ADC stands for which has been enshrined in the ADC – DNA, which is the belief that, “Every person in this nation should be treated with dignity and respect”.
