Oyo Assembly Begins Public Hearing on Amotekun Bill 2020

The public hearing on the Oyo state Security Network Agency Bill, 2020 is currently ongoing at the House of Chiefs, Paliamentary Building, Secretariat, Ibadan.

Present at the gathering is the state Commissioner for Justice, professor Oyelowo Oyewo, accomplained by the Special Adviser on Security Matters, Fatai Owoseni and the Special Adviser on Legislative Matters, Mr. Adejumo Samuel Ademola alias Agbarapo.

Also present at the public hearing are Paramilitary security outfits and quasi-civilian groups such as – Agbekoya Farmers’ Association, Vigilante group of Nigeria and Hunters Association of Nigeria.

At the event is the Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba land, Aare Gani Adams, represented by Gbonka Aare Onakakanfo, chief Gboyega Adejumo, amongst other traditional rulers.

In his address of welcome, the Speaker, Oyo state house of Assembly, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, through his Deputy, hon. Abiodun Fadeyi, noted that the introduction of Amotekun Corps will go a long way in assisting officers of the Nigerian Police Force and other relevant security agencies in tackling the menace of Insecurity in the Southwest region.

He assured the members of the public that their contributions will be considered at the third reading of the bill.
