The Oyo State House of Assembly has confirmed the names of nine nominees as Commissioner-designates, bringing the total tally to 16. The confirmation was made during the plenary sitting of the House. This brings the total number of screened and confirmed Commissioner-designates awaiting portfolios by Governor Seyi Makinde to 16.
Previously, the House had screened and confirmed a seven-man list sent by the Governor. The nine new members include three returning cabinet members, Dr. Wasiu Olatubosun, Barr. Olasunkanmi Olaleye, and Mr. Segun Olayiwola. The remaining six members are Mr. Abiodun Aikomo, Prof Abdulwaheed Soliu, Mr. Majeed Mogbojunbola, Mr. Williams Akinfunmilayo, Prince Dotun Oyelade, and Mr. Obafemi Ojo.
During the screening process, the House did not subject the Commissioner nominees to intense questioning after their self-introduction. Instead, they were directed to take a bow and leave. The Speaker, Honourable Adebo Ogundoyin, expressed confidence in the Governor’s selection of his cabinet members and urged the new Commissioner-designates to view their positions as a call to serve the state and humanity.
He also encouraged them to utilize their expertise and experiences in their respective professions to contribute to governance and help Governor Makinde achieve his Sustainable Development Agenda, Omititun 2.0.
