The Oyo State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of Mr. Popoola Adedayo Kehinde as the substantive Auditor-General for the state.
Mr. Kehinde’s appointment was confirmed during the plenary session on Tuesday. The session was presided by the Speaker, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin.
This was followed after the presentation of the screening report, presented before the House by Hon. Olusola Owolabi from Ibadan North East constituency.
According to the report, Mr Kehinde was screened and found appointable for the post of the Auditor-General for State, pursuant to section 126(1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as Altered).
The report indicated that the screening exercise was in line with the directive of the House on Monday, 24th November, 2025 that the Committee on Public Accounts screen Mr. Popoola Adedayo Kehinde, a nominee for the post of Auditor-General for State via the correspondence from the Office of the Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, seeking the House for the confirmation of his appointment in accordance with section 126(1) of the Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999, (as Altered)
“The Committee met and engaged the nominee for the purpose of screening of his appointment on Tuesday 25th November, 2025.
“Mr. Popoola Adedayo Kehinde is the Acting Auditor-General, Office of the Auditor-General for State and was born on October, 18th 1970 to Popoola family, Ogbomoso North Local Government.
”He sat for General Certificate of Education Examination (GCE) in 1987 and proceeded to Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife where he bagged Bsc. Hons. Accounting.
“His career progression in the Oyo State Civil Service started in 1998 when he was employed as Audit Officer, Grade II, Grade level 08 step II in January, 284 1998.He rose through the ranks in the Auditor Cadre of the Office of Auditor-General for State through hard work and dedication to service.
“Mr. Popoola Adedayo Kehinde is a fellow of Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Nigeria (ICPAN), Association of Public Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) and Institute of Management Consultants. As a result of his sterling performance in the Civil Service, he received a commendation letter for discovery of loss of Government revenue at the School of Hygiene, Eleyele, Ibadan in June, 2001. He equally, received awards as most efficient Civil Servant in the Office of Auditor-General for State in 2017 and recognition of service from Men Missionary Union (MMU), Nigeria Baptist Convention, Akobo, Ibadan. He had attended many seminars/trainings and workshops that enhanced his skills and performance in the service.
