Oyo East Local Government Councillors have impeached the leader of the house, Hon Ademola Okunade Idowu and suspended three other councillors of the house for six months over gross misconduct, abuse of office, high-handedness and anti -party activities.
In a report made available to newsmen, Hon Ademola was impeached on Tuesday during a plenary session at the Legislative Building in Oyo East Local Government by six councillors.
The six councillors out of the total ten councillors agreed and voted his removal as the leader of the legislative arm of Oyo East Local Government.
According to the lawmakers, the speaker was impeached on allegations of gross misconduct, abuse of office, and high-handedness.
Meanwhile, the councillor representing ward 01, Adeniyi Asimiyu, has been elected and sworn in as the new speaker and leader of the house.
Other three members suspended are Hon Olayinka Saheed Olatunde (Ward 02),
Hon Adebayo Saheed (Ward 07), and Hon Abd’Wasiu Mustapha WASPA (Ward 08)
A list of councillors who voted and agreed to the suspension of the former leader for six months includes – Hon Adeniyi Asimiyu (Ward 01), Hon Lasisi Kazeem Akinkunmi (Ward 03), Aboderin Musa Akala (ward 05), Hon Ayesebotan Yusuf (ward 09), Hon Rasheed Mumini (Ward 04) and Hon Adebayo Akinkunmi (Ward 06).
At the plenary with the presence of the mace, new principal officers to run the affairs of the house were immediately sworn-in, and asked to start the running of affairs immediately.
