Oyo Government Organizes Press Conference Over Fresh COVID-19 Case in Ekiti

The Oyo state government has again reassured the people of the state that there is no case of coronavirus in Oyo state.


The state commissioner for health, Dr. Bashir Bello gave the assurance following the first recorded case of the Coronavirus epidemic by the Ekiti state government, which preliminary investigation revealed that the affected person had stayed in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital for two-weeks.

Dr. Bello, at the press conference organized by the state ministry of health, cleared rumors surrounding a Nigerian caregiver who was attached to the victim before his demise after 72-hours they arrived in Nigeria.

Dr. Bello who allayed the fears of the Oyo state indigenes, especially, Ibadan residents, noted that the suspected caregiver is yet to be tested positive to COVID-19.

He noted that the result of the test carried out on the suspected caregiver will be out in the next 24hours and assured that the ministry will publicly announce the result once the investigation is concluded.

As at the time of filing this report, the suspected person has been quarantined and her contacts are being traced by the Oyo state ministry of health.
