The Oyo state Government through the Ministry of Environment has started climate advocacy to combat the effects of climate change in the state.
The state has started advocacy in collaboration with the The World Resources Institute (WRI). The World Resources Institute (WRI) is a global research non-profit organization established in 1982.
The World Resource Institute (WRI) in partnership with Green Hub Africa and support of the Department of Climate change, Federal ministry of Environment organised the Climate Leadership training on the 28th of August, 2024 at Four Points by Sheraton, Lagos.
Oyo State, through the Ministry of environment was part of the training which covered five thematic areas. The thematic areas include climate negotiations and policy, climate change and health, climate finance, green entrepreneurship and energy access.
The ministry of environment was able to make institutional connections with other institutional stakeholders in order to advance the climate change discussion, adaptation and mitigation strategies in Oyo State. The Ministry of Environment, Oyo state remains resolute in making sustainability a priority in Oyo state.
