Oyo Govt Compensates Affected Residents for Yekini Adeojo GRA With Over 150M

The Oyo state government has approved over 150 million naira for compensation to affected residents of the new Yekeen Adeojo GRA in Odo Ona Kekere, Oluyole Local Government Area of the state.

This development was coordinated by the state Investment and Public Private Partnership Agency, (OYSIPA) to residents who are affected by the proposed demolition of illegal structures in the area.

While addressing the affected residents, the Director General of OYSIPA, Mr. Tilewa Folami, explained that the area was designated for residential purposes in 2023, and residents had been given over 15 months notice to vacate the land, with periodic reminders.

He further stated that the State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde had instructed that all owners of illegal structures be compensated, regardless of whether they possess a Certificate of Occupancy or not.

The land officer at the State Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Mr Adewale Onipede explained that the land was acquired by the government in 2006 for industrial purpose.

The affected residents were awarded the cheques based on their structures as the demolition is expected to commence in new Yekeen Adeojo GRA after the compensation has been fully distributed.
