IBADAN – November 3, 2025 – The Oyo State @50 Celebrations Committee has officially launched an open call to the public, inviting creative minds to design the official logo, theme, and mascot for the state’s landmark Golden Jubilee. The announcement was made today by the Committee Chairman, Hon. Saheed Akinade-Fijabi, during a press conference detailing the plans for the anniversary slated for February 2026.
In his address, Hon. Akinade-Fijabi framed the “Oyo @ 50 Logo Design, Theme and Mascot Challenge” as a central pillar of the celebrations, emphasizing inclusivity and grassroots participation. He stated that the initiative is aimed at capturing the collective spirit and heritage of the state.
“Oyo State @50 is more than an anniversary; it is a reflection of our identity, our strength, coexistence and our shared dreams,” Akinade-Fijabi told press members and citizens. “In the spirit of inclusion and creativity, we are announcing today the Oyo @50 Logo Design, Theme and Mascot Challenge. We hereby invite the general public and creative minds across Oyo State and beyond to submit their designs.”
The committee is seeking designs that effectively symbolize the state’s journey over the past five decades, encapsulating its “past achievements, vibrant present, and ambitious vision for the future.” The winning entry will be adopted as the official emblem for all jubilee events, representing the pride and unity of the Pacesetter State.
The press conference served as the kickoff for a year-long series of activities to mark the 50th anniversary of the state’s creation. The Chairman recalled that the committee was inaugurated by His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, in October 2025 to orchestrate the milestone event.
Akinade-Fijabi underscored that the celebration will be a statewide affair, engaging all six geopolitical zones Ibadan, Oke-Ogun, Oyo, Ogbomoso, and Ibarapa and involving every stratum of society, including the legislature, judiciary, traditional and religious bodies, artisans, students, farmers, and entrepreneurs.
“This milestone belongs not only to government, but to all sons and daughters of Oyo State, at home and in the diaspora,” he asserted, calling on residents and institutions to join hands in making the celebration a success.
The committee has provided dedicated channels for submissions: email at [email protected] and WhatsApp at 09163121000. The Chairman confirmed that the winners of the challenge will be “handsomely rewarded,” though specific details of the prizes were not immediately disclosed. The challenge is open from today, 3 November, 2025 and closes 10 November, 2025
