Oyo Govt to Utilize Hotspot and Strategic Policing to Combat Crime



…says Oyo State Security Situation Improved Slightly

Oyo state government has declared its readiness to make use of hotspot and strategic policing in a view to reducing the rate of crime in the state.

This security architecture was communicated at a press briefing by members of the war room security task force committee earlier today.

The SSA on Security matters, Comp Fatai Owoseni(rtd) while fielding questions from newsmen stated that utilizing hotspot and strategic policing was as a result of a gap analysis which identifies security challenge peculiar to each community.

According to him, “Hotspot policing ensures that the human and material resources available to the state are optimally utilized for discharging the function of securing lives and properties.”

Meanwhile, the Chief of Staff to Governor Seyi Makinde; Chief Bisi Ilaka hinted that the task force has observed a noticeable improvement in the state of security of the state indicating that the establishment of the War room has started yielding the wanted results.

“A slight improvement in the security in the late but the task force realized that a lot still has to be done in order to have perfect peace in the state and the task force is resolutely committed to making Oyo state a haven of peace.”

Ilaka also noted that the committee is putting in concerted efforts to making the earlier security outfit recently employed by the state; the Integrated security concept works more effectively and efficiently.

“In order to have a perfect security architecture, Finalizing the standard operating manual for the state and non-state actors will be the next point of action for the committee in order to have a seamless synergy.”

The committee reiterated its commitments to finding lasting and effective ways of fighting and reducing crimes to their barest minimum in the state. Similarly, Comp. Owoseni told newsmen that the security task force was established to complement the state’s security council and not replace it.

The committee hinted that the Oyo state, governor; Engr. Seyi Makinde is ready to engage in Social investment programs that will be aimed at bridging the trust gap existing between security personnel and the people.

Present at the press briefing were; chief of staff, Chief Oyebisi Ilaka, SSA on Security Matters, Comptroller Fatai Owoseni(rtd), SSA Media Matters, Jide Ajayi and the Chief Press Secretary; Mr Taiwo Adisa.
