Oyo Police Confirms the Killing of ex–Iyalode’s Daughter, Deploys Crime Scene Investigators to Her Residence

The Oyo State Police Command has reacted to the assassination of Alhaja Fatima Awolesu, the only surviving daughter of Late Iyalode of Ibadanland, Alhaja Amina Abiodun.

Fatimah was shot dead at her Basorun residence in Ibadan yesterday.

The police says it’s preliminary investigation has revealed that the deceased was attacked by unknown assailants who inflicted bodily injury and wounds on her.

The Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adewale Osifeso, who made this known to newsmen on behalf of the State Police Command in a message obtained today, said the murder was reported to the police on Wednesday March 9, by an associate of the deceased family.

The statement reads: “The unfortunate demise of Alhaja Fatima Awolesu ‘f’ was reported by a family associate to the Police on Wednesday 09/03/2022.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased was attacked at her Bashorun residence by unknown assailants who also inflicted bodily wounds on her.

“Crime Scene Investigators have been immediately deployed to the crime scene for detailed forensic processes and thorough investigations.

“Meanwhile the body of the deceased has been deposited at the State Morgue”.

SP Osifeso assured the public that updates regarding the incident and investigations, would be made available in due course.
