Oyo Police Nab Driver With Illegal Firearms, Retrieve Human Flesh, Stolen Vehicle in Ibadan

The Oyo State Police Command has apprehended a driver in possession of illegal firearms during a stop-and-search operation at the Toll Gate axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ibadan.

The command, in a statement signed by the police public relations officer, CSP. Adewale Osifeso and made available to newsmen on Friday, said the incident occurred around 9:11 p.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2025, when operatives of the Federal Highway Patrol intercepted a Toyota bus with registration number AFZ 933 XA.

A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of two locally-made single-barrel firearms, two brand-new short stainless-steel machetes, and 20 live cartridges.

The driver, who could not provide a valid driver’s license or the required vehicle documents, was taken into custody along with the bus.

The Command further disclosed that in separate incidents the previous day, Wednesday, September 17, 2025, officers recovered a white Toyota Camry with registration number LSD 957 JX along the Ogbomoso-Iseyin Road and also intercepted a commercial bus with registration number XA 551 IRG, where a suspect was found carrying a quantity of suspected human flesh in his hand luggage. All items and vehicles have since been secured, while investigations are ongoing.

The state Commissioner of Police, CP Femi Haruna, psc(+), added; “The Command remains committed to sustaining intelligence-led operations across the state. We urge residents to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police authority.”

The Command assured the public that its operations are deliberate measures to curb crime and ensure the safety of residents.
