Oyo Speaker urges PDP to Enhance Youth Participation in Politics

The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Adebo Ogundoyin has urged the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) leaders in the Country to give youths more opportunities to participate in politics at all levels.

Hon Ogundoyin made the appeal at Benin where he led a delegation of PDP party youth to visit the National Chairman; South-South PDP, Chief Dan Orbih.

The Speaker said that the PDP must start working to ensure that the youth are encouraged to see a future in politics with the party, adding that the reason he came to Benin was to seek the PDP Deputy Chairman’s support for bringing through the next generation of young politicians and business leaders.

According to Hon Ogundoyin, excluding young people from the political process and decision making is being eschewed across the globe, to favorable results and Nigeria should not be left behind.

He further stressed that the vibrancy and good ideas of youth are much needed in the party and Nigerian politics in general, where they can participate and be impactful in governance issues as well as finding a lasting solution for Nigeria’s current problems.

“The vibrancy of the youth makes them indispensable and relevant as such their inclusion in politics should be encouraged in line with the Nottooyoungtorun policy of the Federal Government.” The Oyo Speaker told the PDP National Vice Chairman, South-South.”

Chief Orbih in reply pledged that the PDP would commit more resources towards promoting young people in politics and also commended the Speaker for leading the way and showing Nigerian youth that there is a need for them in Nigerian politics and governance.

The PDP National Vice Chairman also warned the Federal Government not to harass the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki for exposing how the CBN allegedly printed huge sums of money to augment the Federal Government’s March allocation.
