Sequel to the directive of the Oyo state government, primary and secondary schools in the state begin 2020/2021 academic session this Monday.
Oyo Affairs correspondent, who monitored situations at cross-section of schools around the state, reports that both the public and private schools adhere strictly to the directive of the government on the new academic session.
Also, many major roads were busy as various means of transportation were conveying pupils and students while hundreds were trekking joyously to their schools.
According to principals of schools visited, pupils in pre-basic and basic classes 1-3 as well as Junior Secondary School Students 1-3, resume learning at about 8:00AM to 12:00PM while pupils in primary 4-6 and Senior secondary school students 1-3 are expected to resume to school from 12:00PM to 3:00PM.
In their separate remarks, headmistresses of schools visited, stated that the sitting arrangements of their schools have been changed to new normal, special timetables developed for the pupils and students, while morning assembly and morning devotion have kick-started.
They also acknowledged sufficient space to occupy students in classes and expressed their readiness to support government to prevent the outbreak of the novel Coronavirus in their schools.
According to the state commissioner for education, barrister Olasunkanmi Olaleye, the first term of the new academic calendar will run between 21st September, 2020 and 18th December, 2020, while the second term of the academic session is expected to run from 11th January, 2021 to 9th of April, 2021, and the third term will run between May 3 and July 30, 2021.
