OYSCATECH Gets First Female Deputy Rector



The Governing Council of the Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora has ratified the appointment of the first female Deputy Rector for the institution.

The ratification which took place during the Council’s meeting held last Friday,saw Dr. Taiwo Adekemi Akinyemi from the department of Home and Rural Economics emerge as the new deputy rector.

Dr Adekemi will be the first female deputy rector in the history of the institution and was elected by the Board of Studies following the retirement of the former Deputy Rector from active service.

The newly appointed Deputy Rector joined the services of Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora, as Lecturer II and she was appointed as Coordinator, Home and Rural Economics Department in 2009. The position she occupied till 2011.

In 2011, she was promoted to the position of Lecturer I, which gave her the opportunity to become the acting Head of Department, Home and Rural Economics and the Sub-Dean, Faculty of Agricultural Extension, Home and Rural Economics in 2013.

In 2014 she was appointed as Senior Lecturer and Dean, Faculty of Agricultural Extension, Home and Rural Economics, the position she held till 2017.

She later rose to the position of a Principal Lecturer and in October, 2020, she was promoted to the postion of a Chief Lecturer.
