PDP Chairman Kidnapped Along Ibadan-Lagos Expresway Released After Four Days

The kidnapped chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, Philip Aivoji, has been freed after spending four days in captivity. Aivoji was abducted by unidentified gunmen on the Ibadan-Lagos Expressway.

The news of Aivoji’s release comes after a tense four-day period following his abduction last Thursday. Aivoji and several other party leaders were taken captive at the Ogere area of the Ibadan-Lagos Expressway while returning from a Stakeholders’ Zonal Caucus meeting convened by Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, in Ibadan.

State Publicity Secretary, Hakeem Amode, confirmed Aivoji’s release in a brief statement issued around 1:15 am on Monday. Amode expressed gratitude for the support and prayers the party received during the ordeal, stating, “Lagos State PDP Chairman released by the kidnappers. Hon Philip Olabode Aivoji the Lagos State PDP Chairman is free at last after 4 days in the kidnappers’ den. We use this opportunity to appreciate your prayers most importantly because God’s mercies was visible all the way. Thank you all for your concerns and prayers.”
