PHOTOS: OYRTMA Officials Avert Fire Outbreak as Gas-Laden Tanker Overturns at Challenge, Ibadan

Officials of the Oyo State Road Transport Management Authority (OYRTMA) reportedly averted a fire tragedy yesterday evening as they promptly moved into action at the scene of an overturned gas-laden tanker along Efunsetan Roundabout, Challenge.

It was gathered that prior to the arrival of the officials, the incident obstructed traffic and portends danger to commuters along the route.

Meanwhile, the Executive Chairman of OYRTMA, Dr. Akin Fagbemi had said that the officials were immediately deployed to the scene, to evacuate the tanker and restore normalcy.

In his words, “We have engaged the services of high duty cranes and lift systems that can effectively assist in the ongoing rescue operation.

“We hereby implore motorists along the axis to note that traffic has been temporarily diverted to one-way along the route and thus should drive more carefully and slowly till normalcy fully returns”, he added.
