The Oyo State Road Transport Management Authority (OYRTMA) has deployed more officers and men to Ogbomosho, in a bid to further enhance administrative and operational traffic effectiveness in the zone.
It has also created four additional area commands to oversee the authority’s activities across Ogbomosho.
Reiterating its commitment towards ensuring effective road transport management across the zone, the Executive Chairman, OYRTMA, Dr. Mogaji Akin Fagbemi while on a working visit to the operational commands in Ogbomoso yesterday said, “We acknowledge the significance of Ogbomoso to the general economy of Oyo state. It is pertinent we do all within the ambits of the law to ensure free flow of traffic in the zone.
“His Excellency, The Executive Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde has given a mandate to us to operate effectively across the state, not just restricting ourselves to a zone, thus the creation of these new commands in Ogbomoso zone.
“It is our hope that the Ogbomoso people begin to see the results of our actions in no distant time”.
Meanwhile, Dr. Fagbemi during the visit also paid a courtesy call on the Ogbomoso North Local Government Chairman, Hon. Kabiru Akanji Adeoye; who expressed immense satisfaction and appreciation for the good works and timely intervention of OYRTMA personnel to issues pertaining to effective road traffic management, crash prevention, post-crash care and general road safety matters in the zone.
Elated about the presence of OYRTMA in Ogbomosho, the local government boss emphasised that the total clampdown melted on ‘One-Way’ offenders by OYRTMA officials in the zone, has helped to significantly zero down cases of road crashes and saved the lives of numerous individuals.
In his words, Hon. Adeoye said, “We must commend the men and officers of OYRTMA for the tremendous work they are doing in safeguarding the commuters on roads in Ogbomoso zone. Before now, we only see and hear about OYRTMA’s activities in the state capital, Ibadan; but today, it is a great pleasure that the agency has not less than five specialised commands in Ogbomoso zone including the one newly created to ease traffic along the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) and its environ.
“Also, OYRTMA routine operations has helped us reduce crimes through the checking of number plates and impounding vehicles, motorcycles etc. without a fully registered number plate”, he said.
Speaking further, the Ogbomoso local government boss added that traffic management system being introduced by OYRTMA is effective even though there is always room for improvement.
“We thank the agency for easing our traffic in Ogbomoso. This has a great impact on the productivity of businesses, trades and all commercial activities in the zone. We can only hope for more. We appreciate you”, Hon. Adeoye added.
