Police Nabs Woman Over Alleged Child trafficking in Ibadan

Oyo State Police Command has arrested a middle-aged woman identified as Abosede Omolola, over alleged child trafficking in Ibadan.

Some passerby, were said to have caught the woman with five children between ages four and thirteen at Bodija area of Ibadan, while claiming she runs a charity home.

She was thereafter handed over to the police for timely intervention as she could not give satisfactory explanation about the whereabouts of the parents, whose children were found in her possession.

Abosede confessed that she was using the children to beg for alms, after which they were rescued.

When asked, some of the children said they attend Saint Michael Primary School, Idi Ayunre, Ibadan while two others said they were from Ago Iwoye in Ogun state.

After several efforts to locate the parents of the children all to no avail, the woman was detained by police officers from Bodija Police Station.

Meanwhile, report says the five children have been taken to a motherless babies home, pending further investigations.
