Residents Rejoice as FG Approves Construction of Ayegun-Oleyo Road

Residents of Ayegun-Oleyo and commuters in Oluyole local government area can finally breathe a sigh of relief as Dr. Yunus Akintunde, the lawmaker representing Oyo central senatorial district, has successfully facilitated the construction of the long-awaited road.

Before his election, Akintunde and his friends had reconstructed a kilometer of the road, demonstrating his commitment to improving the lives of commuters in Ayegun, Oleyo, Odo Ona Elewe, and surrounding areas. Since his inauguration, he has tirelessly lobbied the federal government to construct the entire stretch of the road.

His efforts paid off when the Federal Executive Council (FEC) awarded the contract to Messrs Xenon Ltd on March 25, 2024, with a letter dated April 4, 2024.

Akintunde expressed his gratitude to President Bola Tinubu, his colleagues, and friends, acknowledging that he couldn’t have achieved this feat alone. He urged the people to cooperate with the contractors and assured them that the temporary inconvenience would be worth it, promising a “very good date” for completion.

The APC chieftain also hinted at more projects in the pipeline, saying, “We have many long-lasting programmes in our bag and we won’t stop at anything to achieve them.”

  • I really appreciate the effort of the senator for fighting for the promise he made during his campaign may almighty Allah continue to lift him up.
Although the road project has started but the layout and materials were not being followed as per government plan. Nigerian factors has been brought up which would make the honorables effort to be fruitless to avoid this, proper monitoring system should be put in place so that the road would be better and would not be business as usual.
