League of Imams, Ibadan High Chiefs Endorse Makinde

The league of Imams and Alfas of five Ibadan main city local governments have endorsed Governor ‘Seyi Makinde for a second term in office.

The endorsement was announced through Prof. Kamil Oloso, during the governor’s meeting with the Islamic scholars at the Oja’ba Central Mosque Hall, Ibadan.

Speaking on behalf of the Imams and Alfas in five local governments, Prof. Kamil Oloso explained that the governor had done a lot for Muslim Ummah in the state, adding that the ongoing renovation of the Oja Oba Central Mosque is being championed by Governor ‘Seyi Makinde led administration.

He maintained that the endorsement of the governor for a second term was based on sterling achievements in all sectors in the state.

The governor also met with the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) at the St. Paul Church, Yemetu, Ibadan North Local Government.

While addressing the two religious bodies, Governor Makinde charged them to mobilise their members and vote for Oyo State PDP candidates in the forthcoming general elections, noting that Nigerians shall be emancipated from its current travails if the right choices are made in the next elections.

The governor also met with the traditional worshippers at Ibadan North East Local Government Secretariat, non-indigenes at Ibadan North West Local Government Secretariat.

In his address, Governor Makinde maintained that he has been able to deliver on his 2019 campaign promises, including free and qualitative education, expansion of the state’s economy through quality roads, security of lives and property through the creation of Amotekun and support for the federal security agencies, among others.

Similarly, the governor addressed traditional rulers of Ibadan’s main city local governments at Mini Mapo, Aleshinloye, Ibadan South West Local Government.

Governor Makinde reiterated that the ten percent allowances of traditional rulers would commence by the end of this February, adding that he’s pleased and ready to sign into law any internal chieftaincy reform adopted by the Ibadan traditional council

In his remarks, High Chief Eddy Oyewole, who spoke on behalf of the five local governments’ traditional rulers, appreciated Governor Makinde for his achievements in the last three and half years, promising to work for the success of his second term bid.

The governor’s campaign train, which toured around Ibadan North East, Ibadan North, Ibadan South East, Ibadan North West, and Ibadan South West local government areas, was welcomed by mammoth crowds of party supporters and well-wishers, who thronged the major roads of Ibadan.
