The Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA) has announced the diversion of traffic from the Iwo-Road Interchange towards Airport Junction, in order to continue with reconstruction works along the axis.
It issued the traffic advisory on Monday to motorists, commuters and other road users plying Iwo Road area of Ibadan.
The advisory was issued by the Executive Chairman of the agency, Dr. Mogaji Akin Fagbemi.
It reads in full: “This is to inform the general public of a traffic diversion along the Iwo-Road Axis due to ongoing road maintenance/reconstruction works that currently impedes free flow of vehicular movement from the Iwo-Road Interchange, towards Airport Junction.
“Alternative routes to vehicles intending to ply the axis this morning include the following:
- From Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Inward Iwo-Road, Commuters could branch at Sawmill Bridge, Onipepeye Junction to link Wema Bank Junction or Alakia.
- From Ife-Ibadan Expressway inward Ibadan, motorists are advised to veer off the express at Wema Bank Junction by taking the alternative route behind Wema Bank Junction to navigate to Seven-Up, Monatan.
OYRTMA therefore urged commuters to drive carefully around the affected area as traffic officers are working concertedly with relevant agencies, to maintain orderliness whilst efforts are on by the construction workers to expedite actions within the shortest possible time.
