Former Senate President and a leader in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has made a move to restore peace between the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde and the former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose
Senator Saraki explained earlier on moves made as part of ongoing efforts to reconcile the leaders and members of the party (PDP), and that he had a meeting last week with the former Governor Fayose.
He added that as a follow-up to the engagement and consultation (with Fayose), he had just ended an extensive but fruitful meeting with Governor Seyi Makinde.
It would be recalled that Fayose and Makinde have been on a warpath for quite some time with Fayose insisting that Makinde shouldn’t be carrying himself as leader of the PDP in the southwest because he’s the only PDP governor in the region.
Fayose has also warned that Makinde must trend on a careful path so as not to work against his re-election in 2023 if he doesn’t stop disrespecting him.
The war between both politicians has polarised the PDP in the southwest, and Saraki is now initiating peace moves.
Saraki however stressed that efforts are on to cater for the concerns of party stakeholders and that there is a willingness from both parties towards forging a stronger and more united Peoples Democratic Party.
