The Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) today comfortably ran out winners against Stationery Stores of Lagos at the Dipo Dina stadium Ijebu-Ode, beating them 3-0 and completing the double over the team propping up group B1 of the Nigeria National League (NNL)
The game was decided by usual suspects Gafar Olafimihan and Malomo Ayodeji Taofeek as they scored three second half goals to put the result beyond doubt just as the away team had begun to hope for a positive result from the game.
The game started with 3SC controlling the game as expected, dominating the midfield and creating a number of good chances that were foiled by the Stores goalkeeper, Idris who made several good saves to keep both sides level in the first half.
The second half was a different story as the Oluyole boys intensified the pressure and kept the away team on the back foot as soon as the whistle signalled the restart. The pressure eventually proved too much for the away team as star striker Gafar Olafimihan was brought down in the penalty box, earning a penalty which he coolly got up to convert.
3SC head coach Edith Ogoye decided to make some changes soon after and introduced Olukokun Najeem and Salawudeen Ibrahim to add fresh legs to his attack and replace the injured Francis Anene.
The substitutions paid off soon after as Salawudeen Ibrahim set Amodu Nurudeen free down the left wing with a marvellous pass, giving the left-back all the time he needed to find Malomo Ayodeji with a cross for the second goal.
In the 79th minute, Malomo put the game beyond doubt by scoring his second goal in five minutes after some nice individual work after an assist by the second substitute Olukokun Najeem.
The referee soon blew his whistle to bring the game to an end after 11 more minutes of pressure from the home team who obviously wanted more goals but couldn’t get them.
The Oluyole Boys will now prepare for their rescheduled game against Dynamite Force of Edo state next Sunday.
