Soun’s Eldest Daughter Dies 4 Weeks After Father’s Death

It was another mournful weekend for the family of late Soun of Ogbomosho, Oba Oladunni Oyewumi as the monarch’s first daughter, Prof. Taibat Danmole, died after a brief illness.

Danmole, 71, died on Saturday, January 8, less than one month after the death of her father, Oba Oyewumi; who joined his ancestors on December 12 at the age of 95.

According to a palace source, “Baba’s first daughter died on Saturday. She has been sick for some time. We just pray that God will spare the lives of those of us remaining”.

Reports have it that the deceased would be buried in Ilorin, Kwara state capital.

The deceased was married to the Dean, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, Prof. Hakeem Danmole.

She was the Commissioner for Education in Oyo state between 1997-1998.

She was also a member of Visitation Panel to The Polytechnic, Ibadan in 2011.

The late Danmole was said to have been a lecturer at the University of Ilorin before she transferred her service to the Lagos State University, where she retired.
