Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU, will on Friday, 5th February 2021, commence a nationwide strike and shut down all public universities’ facilities.
The chairman, Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU, University of Ibadan, barrister Wale Akinremi, disclosed this in a chat with OyoAffairs correspondent on Wednesday.
According to barrister Akinremi, the industrial action is a sequel to the lack of seriousness and delays by the federal government in the renegotiation of the 2009 FG/ SSANU agreements, which according to him has brought untold hardship upon the members of the union.
He added that the union resolved to embark on a full-blown strike following an inconclusive meeting held with the federal government representatives on Tuesday.
In his address, the chairman, Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions, NASU, University of Ibadan, Comrade Malaki Etem, also lamented that the federal government deviated from the agreement it had with the union after it lured the NASU members into the Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System (IPPIS
