Sunday Igboho Loses of His Mother

Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, a prominent figure in the Yoruba Nation movement, has tragically lost his mother. The news was confirmed by Igboho’s spokesman, Olayomi Koiki, who announced the sad development on Twitter. The details surrounding her death remain unknown at this time.

Sunday Igboho, who has been living in exile since 2021, was unable to see his mother before her passing. It is uncertain whether he will be able to attend her burial. Igboho hails from Igboho in the Oorelope local government area of Oyo state.

In a recent interview with the PUNCH NEWSPAPER, Igboho’s lawyer, Yomi Aliyu, expressed confidence in his client’s return to Nigeria. Aliyu stated that as long as Igboho refrains from advocating for the separation of the Yoruba people from Nigeria, he should face no issues upon his return.

Sunday Igboho gained notoriety in March 2021 when he declared the sovereignty of the Yoruba Nation. He initiated a campaign to drive out killer herdsmen and kidnappers from the South-West states. Additionally, he called on Yoruba individuals residing in Hausa/Fulani or Igbo territories to return home.

Following a late-night raid on his residence by the Department of State Services (DSS), Igboho fled Nigeria in July 2021. The attack resulted in one fatality and the destruction of some of his property. The DSS claimed to have recovered weapons from his apartment during the invasion, including AK-47 rifles, pump-action guns, and ammunition. However, Igboho vehemently denied these allegations and filed a lawsuit against the DSS, ultimately winning a court judgment that awarded him N20bn in damages on September 16, 2021.
