Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo has made an expressive plea to the Ooni of Ife regarding his unethical, reproachful and seemingly shallow thought out statements against the first class monarch.
Sunday Adeyemo popularly known as Sunday Igboho who recently rose to sudden national stardom after issuing a 7-day ultimatum to Fulani herdsmen residing in Ibarapa area of Oyo state disclosed that his comments during a Zoom meeting with some unidentified Yoruba living in the diasporas were borne out of his sheer stupidity and emotional imbalance indicating that he (Sunday Igboho) cannot be too bold to repeat such obscene words before the Arole Oduduwa.
A video which was published on Wednesday night by Isokan Omo Odua TV showed Igboho expressing remorse about his comments on the stance of the Ooni of Ife.
He explained that his stupid comments were borne out of upset about the widespread abductions, maiming, raping and killings connected to Fulani herdsmen adding that Yoruba leaders were too timid to go against the Buhari-led administration because he is also a Fulani man.
Igboho stated that his agitation for the eviction of Fulani criminals domiciled in Yoruba land was a quest to secure Yoruba future, but it has been widely controversial because the Nigerian Constitution accords all citizens the right to settle in any part of the country.
In the video which came out not long after his earlier video where he berated the Monarch and other prominent individuals received heavy criticism, Igboho said he had been in touch with Ooni, and both have had a discussion on the matter with the traditional ruler assuring him of his forgiveness.
However, a request to the spokesman for the Ooni’s Palace seeking comments on Igboho’s apology has not been answered as at the time of releasing this report.
