Barely a week after the Alao-Akala family welcomed a set of twins born by Olamiju Alao-Akala, the family has been thrown into turmoil as gunmen attacked the farm of the late former governor and kidnapped the farm supervisor, Mr. Christopher Bakare.
Bakare is a native of Gbongan in Osun State and was employed about four years ago.
The incident was said to have occurred at about 7:00 p.m. on Saturday at the farm located at Jabata, Surulere local government area of the state.
The kidnappers, suspected to be Fulani herdsmen, are said to have demanded a ransom of ₦100m.
This is coming amid the joy of the birth of the twins by the first son of the late Bobagunwa of Ogbomosoland, Olamijuwonlo Alao-Akala, whose naming ceremony is expected to come up on Wednesday (tomorrow).
A close family source in a conversation with newsmen said: “Yes, they are Fulani herdsmen quite alright but they speak a smattering of Yoruba.
“The victim was kidnapped on the farm amid a staccato of gunshots. We have been trying to negotiate with them even though the police had been informed”, he added.
It was gathered that a meeting was held on Monday by some stakeholders to ensure the return of the victim, Christopher Bakare.
Meanwhile, another source has confirmed that the Police Area Command Office, Ogbomoso, have been briefed about the incident and has swung into action.
