Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has revealed that the administration of Late Governor Abiola Ajimobi siphoned the funds earmarked for the construction of the Ido-Eruwa road in the Ibarapa zone of Oyo State
The Governor had made the revelation some weeks ago on a radio programme with Edmund Obilo.
He reiterated it again on Monday while addressing the Peoples Democratic Party stakeholders in Eruwa.
According to him, “I have listened to your requests as presented by your leaders here today.
“After my inauguration, I had a meeting with late Governor Abiola Ajimobi on why the money his administration earmarked for the reconstruction of the Ido-Eruwa road was not used for its purpose.
“The company the money was paid to was Chinese Global. I told him before his demise to order them to return to the site, and I said I had no interest in the money, but it must be used for the purpose it was earmarked for.
“The company yielded and returned to the site, but shortly after Ajimobi’s demise, the company folded up.
“But I can assure you that our administration will do something about the road.
“We’re linking Ibarapa to Oke Ogun. We’ve awarded the reconstruction of Igana-Igangan-Igbo Ora.
“I decided to terminate the project owing to the contractor’s failure to meet up with the specifications, and I re-awarded the project, and the 30% has been paid by the contractor. I will sign the file as soon as we return to Ibadan and they will be mobilised to the project site.
“I can assure you that we have resolved Eruwa Dam.
