Traffic Diverted as Two Die in Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Accident

Two men have been reported dead as a result of an accident which occured around Ogere market axis of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway on Wednesday.

According to the FRSC Spokesperson, Florence Okpe, the incident which involved six men and three vehicles, occurred at about 3 a.m.

She further stated that one other person was injured in the process.

In her words, “A total of 06 persons were involved in the crash, all male adults. 01 person was injured and 02 persons were recorded dead from the crash and others were unhurt.”

Okpe said the crash involved an Iveco tanker (SUL606XA), a Daf truck (EPE 680XJ) and another Iveco tanker (WSE168XA).

She blamed the crash on route violation and speed, disclosing that the injured victim had been taken to Victory Hospital, Ogere, for medical attention.

“The PTD has been contacted for the transloading of the PMS as well as the Ogun State fire and safety services.

“The trucks are blocking the Lagos-Ibadan route and traffic has been diverted to Ibadan-Lagos route.

“One of the trucks is loaded with wheat and effort is ongoing to offload it before the trapped corpses can be removed.

“FRSC personnel and police MTD, Iperu are on ground managing the traffic situation,” Okpe said.

Meanwhile, the Ogun state FRSC Sector Commander, Ahmed Umar has charged motorists to desist from route violation, especially trucks-route areas.
