Two Children Dead, Four Others Injured in Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Auto Crash

An accident involving a Toyota Camry car and a Foton jeep at AP turning, Lenuwa axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway has on Saturday claimed the lives of two children, leaving others with varying degrees of injury.

The Spokesperson of the Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi, who confirmed the incident to newsmen in Abeokuta, has stated that the accident occured at about 1:05pm and was caused by excessive speed and loss of control on the part of the driver of the Toyota Camry car marked LSR 186 GU.

He noted that the Camry car which was inbound Lagos from Sagamu, suddenly lost control and hit the jeep marked FZE 241 LA infront from the rear which made the jeep to also lost control and summersaulted.

The TRACE spokesman explained that eight people were involved in the accident, adding that four people were injured while two children died in the accident.

He added that the vehicles were towed to Sagamu Divisional Police Command, while the injured and the deceased kids were taken to Divine Height Hospital, Ibafo in Obafemi Owode Local Government area of the state.

Akinbiyi, therefore, commiserated with the families of the two children and urged motoring public to always avoid excessive speeding at all time.
