UPDATE: Fire Razes Late Abiola Ajimobi’s Wife Store, Goods Worth Millions Destroyed

An ultra-modern shopping complex that belongs to the wife of the late former governor of Oyo State, Mrs. Florence Ajimobi, was on Sunday razed by fire.

The supermarket cum store located at Bodija, Ibadan, was said to be on fire at about 3:00 PM this afternoon as a result of an electrical surge from the back of the store which later got out of hands, turned into a wildfire and spread to the main building.

The Deputy Director, Oyo State Fire Service,
Mr. Moshood Adewuyi, who confirmed the incident in a chat with Oyo Affairs correspondent, explained that the timely intervention of the state’s firefighters prevented the store from burning into ashes, noting that the fire destroyed some sections of the store and damaged a lot of goods stored inside it.

He added that the owner of the store, Mrs. Florence Ajimobi, and other top government officials in the late Abiola Ajimobi’s cabinet were present at the scene of the incident.

Oyo Affairs correspondent gathered that the unfortunate incident came to the fore just three days after the wife of the former governor of Oyo state, late Abiola Ajimobi, Mrs. Florence Ajimobi, completed her 140-days mandatory mourning exercise for her late husband.
